Applies to:

Cognni Admins who would like to create new custom information types for their environment.

What will be Affected:

The system will study based on the example files provided for your custom information types and learn how to find similar files autonomously.

Solution Summary:

How to create a new custom information type in Cognni, teaching the system to recognize your business files by uploading example files and details.

Prerequisites:

  • License - P30: Classification, Visibility and Forensics + Playbooks & Automations + Soft Compliance


Solution Steps

Step 1: Navigation

i. Go to Configurations > Information Customization.

i. Click on "Create a custom information type". (Top right of the screen)

Step 2: Custom Information Type Details

i. Choose the relevant Category for your Custom Information Type.

ii. Enter the Name for your Custom Information Type.

iii. Enter the Description for your Custom Information Type.

iiii. Select the relevant Sensitivity Level for your Custom Information Type:

  • Low Sensitivity: "Internal data requiring multiple items exposed to cause impact."

  • Medium Sensitivity: "Protected data where even single items can cause significant impact."

  • High Sensitivity: "Critical data where any exposure could cause severe impact."

iiiii. Select the relevant Sensitivity Type for your Custom Information Type:

  • Internal Information: "Data intended for use within organizational boundaries only"

  • Customer Private Information: "Data intended for sharing with specific external partners/stakeholders"

  • Sensitive Information: "Data intended for restricted access regardless of audience type"

Step 3: Upload Your Example Files

i. Please upload a minimum of 5 files (The more, the better).

ii. Click on "Analyze"

Step 4: Approve & Create

i. Please allow the system to finish analyzing your files:

ii. Review Associations:

iii. Click on "Approve & Create"
